Dipropylene Glycol Phenyl Ether (DPPH) is a new type of zero-VOC high-boiling-point solvent and coalescing agent, serving as a fully upgraded replacement for Propylene Glycol Phenyl Ether (PPH). When DPPH is added to a latex system, it redistributes between the aqueous phase and the polymer phase. Its excellent film-forming performance is attributed to its minimal partition coefficient between the two phases, while ensuring good plasticizing effects and an optimal balance of evaporation rate. PPH is a colorless transparent liquid with a mild odor. It exhibits exceptional solvency for most latexes and resins, with low water solubility, ensuring complete absorption by latex particles. This imparts the best coalescence and color development uniformity to latex paints, along with excellent storage stability. When used to replace TEXANOL (alcohol ester-12) under conditions of complete film formation, equivalent gloss, leveling, sagging, color development, scrub resistance, and thickening, the dosage can be reduced by approximately 30%, resulting in lower costs and a 1.5-2 times improvement in overall film-forming efficiency. Most importantly, it is non-toxic and environmentally friendly.
DPPH can serve as an excellent high-boiling-point organic solvent or modifying agent, replacing isophorone, cyclohexanone, benzyl alcohol, and ethylene glycol ether series that are more toxic or have stronger odors. Due to its non-toxicity, good miscibility, moderate evaporation rate, excellent coalescing and coupling capabilities, and low surface tension, it is widely used in automotive and automotive refinish coatings, electrodeposition coatings, industrial baking enamels, as well as marine, container, and wood coatings.
Usage and Dosage:
1. DPPH can be added as a coalescing agent before the emulsion stage or during the pigment grinding stage; it can also be added post-addition under stirring conditions and should be mixed thoroughly. Generally, the addition amount is 3.5-6% for pure acrylic emulsions, 2.5-4.5% for vinyl acetate-acrylic emulsions, and typically 2-4% for styrene-acrylic emulsions.
2. When refined-grade DPPH is used as a co-solvent in cathodic electrodeposition paints, the addition amount is generally 4-8% of the coating system.
3. As a solvent, DPPH can reduce the VOC of the system and can raise the flash point in systems such as lubricating oils.
Packaging and Storage:
1. Packaged in 200 kg iron drums or 50 kg plastic drums.
2. This product is classified as non-hazardous and should be stored in a cool, dry place.
